How to use
- 1Give the puzzle a title and type your words, one per line (up to 40).
- 2Pick a grid size and difficulty: easy is across and down, hard hides words backwards and diagonally.
- 3Shuffle until you like the layout; any word that doesn't fit is listed so you can fix it.
- 4Download the PDF: the puzzle with a word bank, and an answer key on the last page.
FAQ
How many words can I use?
Up to 40. As a rule of thumb, about 10 words for a 10×10 grid, 15 for 12×12 and 25 or more for 15×15 and larger. Longer words need bigger grids.
Can I use spelling words or names with spaces?
Yes. Spaces, hyphens and punctuation are removed in the grid (ICE CREAM is hidden as ICECREAM), while the word bank shows them as you typed them.
Will the answer key match the puzzle?
Yes. Both pages come from the same layout; the key shades every hidden word. Click Shuffle puzzle for a new layout with a matching key.
How do I print it the right size?
Open the PDF and print at 100% or "Actual size" rather than "Fit to page", on US Letter or A4 to match the paper size you chose.
Is it really free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it's free and there's no sign-up. The PDF is created in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Print it as often as you like for home or classroom use.
